Where would Private Investigator put GPS tracker device on my 05 Land Rover LR3?

nathan h asked:

I think a PI put GPS tracking unit on my 2005 Land Rover LR3. I know it must be underneath somewhere, but am hoping someone can tell me exactly where to look. Do they connect to frame with a magnet. I heard it would be in black box of some kind, but where? Maybe a PI who’s put one on Land Rover can tell me.

Usually under any edge that can easily and quickly be accessed by hand. They put them on quick when you’re not looking, so probably within arms reach under any edge.

The antenna for any GPS tracker needs to see the sky or it won’t receive the satellite signal and won’t work. While the tracker itself may be under the car, the antenna needs to see the satellites. It would be about 1.5 to 2 inches square, or maybe round and about 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. All the ones I have seen are at least 3/8 to 1/2 inches thick. Since it needs to be visible to the satellites, it would be very hard to hide.
