Is it illegal for somebody to put a GPS locator on your car without permission?

♥Xty♥ asked:

A tracking device? A person who is not in law enforcement? I was told today by somebody that they have put one on my vehicle and I was wondering if I should call the police on him. He used to be a police officer a long time ago but not anymore. It’s kind of freaking me out.

It is illegal for him to do it. Get someone to check your vehicle very close. If not, he is trying to scare you. Tell him you had it checked, nothing was found and you are going to report him. Should stop him.

No, in my state that could be considered stalking. In fact, just putting someone in fear by saying that would be illegal.

I would have my vehicle checked out very thoroughly and then I would make a report to the police department. If for no other reason just so there is a record. This is definitely stalking and that could be dangerous to you.

The law varies by state as far as the GPS, but this situation itself is very scary and you should call your police immediately.

Even if the GPS itself is not illegal in your state, the situation in general has to be breaking some law… if nothing else, harassment.

    Good luck.
